U-35 Crewmember Otto Tietz

Otto Tietz was born 18.11.1913 in Klein-Dievenow and entered the Reichsmarine on 01 April 1934.

He served on board U 36 16 October 1937 until 26 October 1938. He was a crewmember of U-35 09 February 1939 until 15 August 1939.

Between 04 January 1941 and 29 March 1941, he served as Obersteuermann on board Vorpostenboot Vp 807.

As of 08 July 1941 he was Obersteuermann on board U 161 (initially part of the 2nd U-Flotilla; as of 30.12.1941 part of the 10th U-Flotilla) stationed in Lorient. 

Otto Tietz received the Iron Cross 2nd Class  on 05 April 1942 and the Iron Cross 1st Class on 10 June 1943. He was killed on 27.09.1943 when U 161 was lost with all hands.
